Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear Family,

Hi! For years I have developed a genuine interest and fascination with Norway, especially Bergen, and I have been looking forward to this opportunity for a long time. I currently am finishing my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish at The Ohio State University with a minor in German. I speak fluent Spanish, good intermediate German, and I'm beginning Norwegian independently. I volunteer at the local Children's Hospital and am a part-time librarian where I work with children daily, and I especially love reading to them.

I'll keep an open mind and learn quickly the way you like to have things done, and I pay attention to detail. I have a lot of hobbies, and I'm looking forward to being able to share them with your family. I am a great cook and I love experimenting with new recipes and I really like getting up early and making big breakfasts. For me, housework is a chance to clear my mind and focus my energy constructively, so do trust that I will be more than willing to do laundry, vacuum, cook and clean whenever necessary. Traveling, music, dance, art, cinema, sports, walking, cycling, reading, learning Norwegian and languages in general, and cooking are some of my favorite hobbies. I'm also CPR-certified.

As September 2009 approaches and I secure a position with a family, I will be able to apply for a visa, so my current visa status is by no means permanent. I am quite self-motivated and aim for excellence in everything I do. Unless prohibited by other circumstances, I am early to bed and early to rise. I try to approach life with compassion, understanding, humor, and humility. I'm very eager to help your family in any way I can, and in return, I hope to be accepted as a member of your loving family.
