Au Pair job description

Ideally we would like someone that could help us get the children ready for school (breakfast, prepare their lunches and dress them in their uniform/clothes) then walk/drive them to school.

We would then need you to pick up the children from school and either take them home to play/study or drive them to an after school activity. It would be great if you could help us out with preparing dinner but this is not something we would expect of you everyday...

We would like you to help us with light household duties like keeping the children's bedrooms clean - packing toys away and folding their clothes etc

Hours and days of work would depend on our needs and your preference as well. You could have the weekends off unless you wanted to work for more cash, we could work around that as well.

We would like someone who is hard working and in return we will look after you well and try to help you achieve your goals while living in Australia as well.

Family's Message to Au Pair

Hi there!

We are a family of four located in the capital of Australia, Canberra. There is me, (the mother), my husband (the father), our 6 year old daughter and 4 year old son and we are looking for a French-speaking Au Pair to help us out with our children.

We are an English speaking family but our children attend a French school which is why we would like a French-speaking Au Pair, so you could help my daughter with her homework and expose both our children to the language out of school in a warm, friendly and fun environment. My husband and I cannot speak French.

We live in a very safe part of Canberra. Close to the children's schools and close to the city. It is a 2.5 hour drive to Sydney or 1.5-2 hour drive to the coast. Depending on how long you stayed with us, I am sure you would get a chance to see other parts of Australia while you were living with us. You would also have your own free-time during the week to have time to yourself.

We would like someone who will fit into our home and feel part of our family. We want you to feel welcome. We want someone who wants to help us out and will work hard and go out of their way but we have no intentions of making you do everything (and we have a cleaner). We will be fair. Mutual respect is very important to us. We want someone we can trust as much as we know it is important that you are with a family whom you feel comfortable with.

It is important to us to find the right Au Pair and therefore we are flexible with starting dates. It's more important to us to find the right match.

Rates, hours etc are negotiable.
