Au Pair or Nanny's Message to Families

Hi, thanks for visiting the page!

I'm a 20 year-old Chinese-American who speaks fluent English (native American accent), Chinese, and conversational Spanish. I have experience with kids from spending time with my (many) young cousins, and from teaching private English and/or Chinese lessons to young American students aged 5-17. I also work as a ChineseEnglish translator and interpreter in topics such as law, politics, technology, business, and culture. If you'd like for me to teach English or Chinese, and your children turn out to be bookworms (I'm one too), please let me know about their interests in advance, so I can bring books they like. I already have books in Chinese, so those will be provided at no extra cost.

Living in different countries (China, the UK, the US) was a big part of my childhood, and taught me a lot about how to adapt to, learn from, and appreciate a particular culture. Now that I've lived in the U.S. for my school years, I'm again dreaming about new adventures! After graduating from an American university (December, 2012) with a business degree, I would like to take a few years to explore different cultures and my interests: photography (please see my website for portfolio and e mail), Chinese & Spanish literature (I'm a contracted writer with a Chinese publisher, and have published Chinese fiction), and music. I especially love folk, jazz and flamenco music; I also play the piano and minor in Vocal Performance.

My ideal job would allow me to gradually settle in with a warm family, while giving me some free time to explore the nearby area, and most importantly to continue to educate myself. If possible, I would love to study the language and possibly art at a nearby university or cultural center, though I will of course set my class schedule around your family's. As of now I speak intermediate Spanish; plus hand gestures, it allowed me to travel alone in Spain for a month. I love the language and am keeping up with Spanish publications to improve.

I don't mind traveling with the family if that's a part of the parents' jobs. Spain is currently my primary preference, but please don't hesitate to message me if your family's in another country.

I will not be able to start working until the end of December, 2012, when I graduate from the university. But I will be in Spain during summer 2012, I would love to meet with any Spanish family then for an interview.

Soy china-americana, y tengo veinte anos. Hablo ingles (con acento americano) y chino. Tengo experiencia con los ninos a causa de pasar tiempo con mis (muchos) primos jóvenes, y ensenar clases privadas (ingles y chino) a jóvenes americanos (5-17). Tambien trabajo como una ingles-chino traductora y interprete, tengo experiencia con temas de ley, politica, tecnologia, negocios, y cultura. Si quiere que yo para enseñar ingles o chino, y sus ninos son ratones de biblioteca (yo soy la misma), por favor digame sus intereses, para que yo puedo traer libros a ellos le gustan. Ya tengo libros en chino, por eso puedo traerlos sin costo adicional.

He vivido en países diferentes (China, R.U., EEUU) - esto fue una parte influyente de mi niñez. Aprendi como aprender y adaptarme a culturas nuevas. Por casi diez anos, he vivido con mi familia en EEUU. Ahora estoy soñando con aventuras nuevas! Con mi trabajo ideal, podría llegar a conocer una familia cariñosa - los padres estarían como mis parientes, y los ninos estarían mis hermanos. Me gustaria estudiar espanol y posiblemente arte en una universidad cercana (o un centro cultural). Si esto es posible, claro que voy a buscar clases segun el horario de su familia.

Viajé sola en Espana este invierno pasado, y voy a visitar Espana este verano (2012) por otra vez. Si quiere, puedo visitarle para una entrevista. Pero no puedo empezar trabajar hasta este diciembre (2012), despues de graduarme de la universidad.
