Au Pair job description

We would like an AuPair who has experience working with children, most preferably having studied some childcare in school. The AuPair should have a high energy level to keep up with our children and creative with ideas to play make-believe with them. It would also be really helpful if the aupair would be willing to walk our dog Winnie once or twice a day. You will work roughly 35-40 hours per week taking care of the children, 5 days a week.

Family's Message to Au Pair

We are a very international family. I am originally from California, but have lived in Sweden for 10 years. My husband is English and has lived in Sweden for 18 years. My husband works as a graphic designer for a Norwegian company and I am an ecologist, doing research mostly in Costa Rica with land use change issues. We are moving to California (30 minutes south of San Francisco) June 1st for two years while I am on a research project. We will return to Sweden at the end of the 2 years. This will be a new experience for both of us, since my husband has never lived in the United States and I left right after I finished university. We are looking for a swedish au pair who can continue to speak swedish with our children and help them to maintain some cultural connection to Sweden. But we will also be speaking English together as a family, so you should be comfortable with both languages. We have two children, Penelope who will be 2 1/2 and James who is 4. They are very outgoing and active children. Up until our move to the US, they have attended a swedish speaking dagis, but we speak English at home and that is the language they are most comfortable in. They love jumping around and dressing up and playing make-believe. James loves pirates at the moment and Poppy is very much into horses, cats and the moon. We have a small 5 year old cocker spaniel, Winnie, so you must also be comfortable with dogs. She is a wonderful family dog and we have had her since before the children were born.
