Au Pair job description

We are looking for a person (or couple) able to pick up our three kids (Louis 8, Lila 6 and Anna 3) from school and spend time with them from 4:30-6:30pm 4 days a week, to look after and take them to their activities on wednesday afternoons (6 hours), to do some babysitting (approx two evenings a week) and to help with housework (about 5 hours/week). We are searching particularly for a fluent english speaker to help stimulate the kids english skills.

The job comes with an independent studio apartment that is currently rented as a Bed and Breakfast (see link in personal webpage), and that is located next door in the same building.

During schools holidays the children are sometime travelling to their grand parents so expect to have some time off. Christmas and New Year for sure, february we go skiing one week and april they travel to England for 10 days.

Family's Message to Au Pair

My name is Gary , age 38, British, and working as a Scientist in Lyon, France. Genevieve, my wife, age 37, French, has given up work for the last 6 years to bring up our three children at home. Anna, our youngest will start school in September 2012 and Genevieve will be re-starting her secretarial career.

We love outdoor activities and are often in the mountains at the weekends as Lyon is only an hour and a half away from the Alps. We parents are avid trail runners.

Our children are bilingual and currently going at the local French school, 1 minute walk from the apartment. They understand english well, but would be helped to improve their english speaking skills.

Louis is a cool lad, he's got lots of friends and plays tennis on wednesday. He likes playing chess and card games. He's got his own room. Lila loves princesses, fairies and chocolate - she's energetic, dances on wednesday and is a good skier. She's eager to learn how to read and write and her english is good. Anna is very funny, autonomous - she likes to dance and sing. For the moment she doesn't like to eat anything sugary but she is growing up fast. The girls share their room.

We live in the centre of Lyon in an old-fashioned apartment with very good public connections on the doorstep (metro/tram bus), shops and restaurants.

For the weekends and holidays, Lyon is a great location for visiting Paris, the mountains and the south of France with high speed train links.

If you are interested in taking French lessons, we are only 10 minutes walk from "Alliance Française", a good place to make friends and we can negociate about paying your course.

We promise to look after you, show you our city, and help you to integrate french culture and way of life.
