Au Pair's Message to Families
Dear host family, I´m Jana, 19 years old and I live in a small town in germany. I love children a lot and would like to get to know new cultures and country. So I decided to take part in an au pair programm. here some more informations about me and my live:
I live togehter with my parents, my sister (20) and our dog. My father works as an electrical worker and my mum as a clerical assistant. Currently I go to school and I will get my A level at the end of June 2012. After that I want to start the au pair programm in July. We also have other pets: fish in our pond in the garden and two gerbils.
I love to spend time with kids: My cousins have little kids whom I take care of when we meet. With Leann (3) I mostly play outside at the playground. She likes the swing a lot. Or we drive scooter, take a walk or draw nice pictures with chalk. And toghether with Zoé (9) I cook some meals. Moreover, I combined my hobby vaulting, which I do since 2000, with my love for kids and found a vaulting group for children from 5 to 7 in 2008. I had to provide these nice little ones in August 2010, because I had school while the vaulting training took part. I was really sad, because I loved to see in which way the kids did develop in their performance and behavior. They learned to get more selfconfident and get proud of themselves. But I see them sometimes for example on our yearly tournament or at the Christmas celebration in the riding hall where we also had taken part together in both. I did two courses to improve my childcare-expericenes: the topic of the first course was babysitting and the second one was about group conducting. In 2006-2007 I abet in supervising a youth group. We mostly visited interesting people and places like the fire station.
I spent half of my summer holiday in the kindergarden (3-6). I was helping with the dayorder: breakfast, playing games like puzzle, handicraft, lunch, nap, playing on the playground, playing in the gym, scooter and bobbycar driving and snack. I had a good time and I could test if I am able to take care of some kids 8 hours a day. So I could check if an au pair programm fits for me, because babysitting is only some hours some days in the month and not the whole day. I had a lot of fun and we laughed a lot together.
A hobby of mine is playing drums in a marching band with my father (flugelhorn) and my sister (flute) since 2002. We have some gigs a year, for example at the German tradition of shooting match, Christmas concert or a benefit performance. We also take some trips together. Other hobbies of mine are riding (since Dezember 2009) and doing first aid with my school’s medic group (since 2008). We help in school or at day´s hike and so on. Moreover I like to run and to bake beloved muffins.
Tributary this I am a fun- loving person. I do a lot with my family and friends, for example we drive together to theme parks, funfairs or we do a relaxed day with a barbecue, dvds or parlor games. And we are travelling a lot for example with my father to London or with my class to Barcelona. Moreover, I like to be outside (picknick, walk the dog ...)
A really nice moment in my life was when I rescued a little sparrow which dropped out of its nest. An other moment was to get the North Sea by bike with my friend Kim. We rode by bicycle in general 350 km.
I got my driver´s licence with 17 years. There is a special programm in Germany where you can make your licence with 17 and until your 18 you can drive only with your parents. I drive a lot, mostly to our bandpractices, to Paderborn (35 minutes away), to my grandparents (1 hour away) and on the weekend to my friends (some towns away). In this summer holiday I drove with them to Italy. For this trip we rent a van. I drove some hours on the highway in the night from Nürnberg home.
I decided to start this programm, because of taking care of nice kids, to get to know new people and live with a new family with other traditions and ways of living. Moreover, to improve my English. I chose Australia, because this country has tempted me since we had this topic in class 9. I´m intrigued from the differences in the landscape, between citylife and outback and therefore the different lifestyle. I plan to travel around Australia after the programm as a backpacker to see the wonderful country. But I´m sure that we take some trips to nice sights and places around your home as a family or me together with he kids.
Thank you for reading and giving me the chance to introduce myself to you. I would be glad to find a lovely and nice family. Also I would like to be a big sister to the kids -not only “any strict nanny”. I look forward to hear from your family.
Lovely greeting from Germany Yours Jana
