Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear family, you are willing to accept a new "family member" and are looking for a reliable, energetic and fun person you can trust your children with? You may have found her: Kimberley, 19 years old from Germany. I have finished my Abitur in July and started studying "Economics" at the University of Tilburg, Netherlands. Unfortunately the course turned out to be slightly different from what I expected which made me decide to drop out and look for something more suitable. I believe I have found that certain something at the Free University of Bozen where I would like to start the course "Economics and Social Science" in September. In the meantime I would like to work as an Au-pair since I love working with children and this way could also improve my language skills. I consider myself a very open-minded person who loves to travel and to gain new experiences. I have taken part in various exchange programmes to France, Hungary and the Czech Republic and even spent 6 months at an International School in Singapore in order to improve my English. Additionaly, I spent 6 weeks in Kenya where I volunteered to teach children from the slums in English and Maths and to organise the afternoon-programme for them. This experience actually is the main reason why I now would like to work as an au-pair as I really enjoyed working with the kids and according to them did quite a good job ;) I love every kind of outdoor sport, especially being in the forest with my dog Luke ( if that is to be considered sport ;) ). Apart from that I love to meet friends, read and experience whatever is new to me : ) So far, I speak German ( fluent), English ( nearly fluent ), French (good) and a little Spanish (basics). Since the course in Bozen will be trilingual I will have to learn Italian which hopefully will not be a problem since I studied Latin for 7 years in High School.
