Au Pair job description
Our au pair will be expected to be available for the children when both my husband and I are at work. My husband Jeff is a full time medical technician with the Canadian Forces/Army who generally works Mon-Fri 7:30-3:30, but may be deployed away from time to time. I am a 911 Police dispatcher who works two 12 hour day shifts and then two 12 hour night shifts with four days off in between. Therefore we need our au pair to be available for varying schedules. However with the varying shifts and the children being in school all day you will still have plenty of time off for exploring.
During your stay with our family, when Jeff and I are both at work, we would expect from our au pair to be able to cook the family meals, do light housework and help out as needed. We are looking for someone who is mature, independent, confident and loving. We also require someone with experience and who is comfortable with driving
Family's Message to Au Pair
My husband Jeff and I have three children Natasha 10, Dominik 7 and Mateo 5. We live in a quiet neighborhood with many nature parks and trails within walking distance. The children are in school Mon-Thurs from 8:30-2:45 and Fri 8:30-12:00 except for school professional days, Christmas and summer holidays. We have 2 Chihuahuas and a miniature Schnoodle that are very friendly and a very much a part of our family. Natasha is currently participating in soccer and swimming, Dominik is in gymnastics and swimming and Mateo is in soccer and swimming. We spend a lot of time together and being our au pair will mean that you will be included in our family activities if you wish. When you are not looking after our children there are many activities around the Courtenay/Comox area, such as 30 minutes to a ski hill, 10 minutes to a beach, bus routes near by and many walking and hiking trails at your disposal. We live in a very scenic outdoor paradise. Victoria (the capital city of British Columbia) is located 2 ½ hours south of Courtenay and Vancouver (the home of the 2010 Olympics) is a short 90 minute ferry ride from Nanaimo.
