Family's Message to Au Pair

Dear Au Pair

Thank you for expressing an interest in becoming our au pair. I want to tell you a little bit more about our family to see if you really want to come and spend some time with us.

Pauline - Mum I am a clinical Specialist podiatrist and I work in a very large hospital in Dublin on 3 days every week. My working hours are from 7am until 4.15pm and it takes approximately 1 hour to drive there. My interests are photography and crafting. During the week I go to camera club on a Tuesday evening. I also help out with youth club on a Friday evening. I am also a qualified TEFL teacher although I haven’t taught since we had children! I enjoy playing with my children, reading when I get the opportunity! And doing varying types of craft activities.

Jamie – Dad Jamie works also in Dublin in a suburb called sandyford – he is an accountant for a large company who makes designer sunglasses! He works Monday to Friday and his hours are from 9-5.30pm He is also a TEFL teacher. Jamie speaks fluent French and Italian and loves to practice those languages. His main hobby is watching Football and Hurling which is a type of football with a stick that is uniquely Irish! He enjoys spending time in the garden and also spending time with the children. He also loves to get away exploring our beautiful country.

Isobel. Isobel is 3 and a half and is a lovely little girl. She loves playing games with her Daddy. She is excellent at Jigsaws and painting and colouring. She also likes it when we bake together although this gets very messy!! She loves playing at the playground and going swimming when possible. She is full of life but also loves watching television! She goes to Montessori school 5 mornings a week.

Daniel Daniel is 17 months old and is a very cuddly little boy. He likes everything dirty – water, mud, etc.. If its dirty and he can play with it – he will! He is very easy going and likes playing with Isobel. He likes running away from you especially if he had something he shouldn't have!

Our House We live in a 5 bedroom house with a large garden. You will have your own bedroom which will have a TV and DVD player but is not able to receive terrerstial TV. We have 2 living rooms and they both have TV with SKY which you will be able to have access to in the evenings/weekends. We have 2 bathrooms so there is not problem with showering etc…

Our Weekend: We are a Christian family and we attend church every Sunday as well as other times during the week. Usually at the weekend we do things as a family together. Sometimes we go away as we have a campervan.

Arklow: Arklow is a town – quite large by irish standards of around 30000 people. It has a cinema, 2 swimming pools, a large hotel and a good shopping mall () we are very close to all amenities – approximately 10 minute walk from the house. There are also a large number of beaches nearby.

What we would want you to do. We would want you to look after Isobel and Daniel for 3 days per week while I am at work. The hours would be approximately 8am to 6pm. For this we will give you €80 per week pocket money. We would also expect you to babysit one evening per week if needed. We would expect you to do some light housework associated with the children e.g. the Washing, tidying up their toys, cooking their meals. We also expect you to take Isobel to school – this is 5 minutes walk away (3 minutes if you run!)
