Family's Message to Au Pair or Nanny
Our family lives in the Northern Arizona mountains near Sedona and the Grand Canyon, in a smaller town with access to many outdoor activities such and hiking and bicycling. We have had four Japanese au pairs, all of which elected to stay beyond the first year with us. There are not many Japanese people who live in our area however, so it is a good place to really learn English. Our city is very friendly, and people are helpful to people who are learning English too. We have access to English tutors to help with learning for candidates who need to improve their English.
We wish to replace our current au pair Makiko in June 2012 when she finishes her 2 years with us. We would like our new au pair to work with Makiko for a couple of weeks so they can learn about the job, and the area. Our children Amanda and Lucas are twins, seven years old and are pretty active. They are in the first grade. They know some basic Japanese due to training from our previous au pairs, but we wish for them to learn more. We appreciate Japanese culture and want our children to learn to be respectful and responsible. Both parents work. The mother is a medical doctor, but has a flexible schedule, father is a business man, who works from home, and travels a couple of times monthly.
We will include our new au pair as a part of our American family. We like to travel and will take our new au pair on vacations with us. We have travelled with our previous au pairs to numerous places in the United States including Hawaii, California, Chicago, Colorado, Washington D.C., and Florida.
As for hobbies, we like to hike, horseback riding, bicycling, camping, and sports activities.
