Nanny's Message to Families

Hi!!

My name is Melissa (commonly known as Mel) and soon I will be starting the next exciting adventure in my life by moving to Sydney. I'm sure I will have lots of fun and many wonderful experiences.

I am 24 years old and love to have fun with people of all ages. I love to travel, see new places, try new things and take lots of photographs along the way. My travel adventures include a family holiday to the UK, two visits to Japan, a fun filled cruise around the Pacific Islands, a year in France with a visit to Portugal, and a summer in the USA.

In France I worked as an au pair for three families during 2007. The first family lived in Bordeaux and I took care of three lovely boys aged 2.5, 4 and 11. The second family lived near Paris and had two children a boy aged 4 and a girl aged 2. My last family lived in a lovely village called Agde. I spent 5 months there and loved every second. I cared for two children, who I adore and keep in contact with, a boy aged 8 and a girl aged 10.

Some other information about me. I graduated university with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) in 2009. I also work as a gymnastics coach 6 days a week. I used to compete and made state level and have been coaching since 2001. I also love Latin American Dancing and have completed some medal exams. I really enjoy having a go at any type of dance or activity.

Last year I spent our winter in America at summer camp. It was a wonderful experience being a camp counsellor for girls aged between 7 and 16.

Other than that I enjoy spending time with friends, exploring new places, board games, movies, cooking, art and craft, swimming and being outdoors.

Currently I am nannying for a family with two girls aged 11 months and 2 years, four mornings a week from 8am until 12pm for $20 per hour. I take the 2 year old to Kindergym once a week. I coach gymnastics in the afternoons.

I am looking to move to Sydney at the end of April, start of May. Currently my friend and I are looking to live near the beach possibly around Randwick and Coogee and other areas near to there; so work near these areas would be ideal. I am however willing to travel to other suburbs.

Ideally I am looking for a live out position, as I will be moving in with a friend who has moved to Sydney for her university studies, but am happy to start work early/finish late. Housework is not a problem as I've done this with all my previous au pair positions and I am happy to prepare meals.

I love working with children, reading with and to them, cooking, doing arts and crafts, going to activities and generally have a great time.

I have a current Blue card (Queensland working with children check), first aid and CPR. I am looking for a salary position ie. $18-$25 per hour + super + holidays. I will consider other options.
